Storyblocks offers a royalty-free licensing model that covers all of our content. We offer three different licenses that vary between what they cover for commercial use, distribution channels, and who is covered.
Royalty-free means that you do not have to pay ongoing royalties or residuals after downloading and using assets under an active subscription. For example, with Storyblocks, once you download an asset, you can use it without incurring additional fees as long as your subscription is active.
Individual License: Covers use of our royalty-free stock assets for commercial work created by you for education, print, multimedia, games, merchandise, and the internet.
Small Business License: Covers use of our royalty-free stock assets for commercial work created by a business of up to 50 employees (excluding agencies, production, and broadcast companies) for education, print, multimedia, games, merchandise, and the internet.
Business License: Covers use of our royalty-free stock assets for commercial work created by a business or organization for education, print, multimedia, games, merchandise, the internet, broadcast, TV, streaming / OTT, and feature films.
The Individual License typically covers personal, portfolio, and most commercial projects, including editing and VFX, but excludes usage for Broadcast TV or major OTT platforms. The Business License, on the other hand, is required for broader commercial applications, including Broadcast TV and major OTT platforms.
Since we use a standard license agreement for all of our content, this eliminates the need for separate licenses, so you don’t have to track a license for individual assets. Anything you download will be covered by the license type associated with your plan.
The license agreement associated with your active plan (e.g., Small Business) is the proof of licensing and covers all items you download from Storyblocks’ libraries. The labels in your download history do not determine or limit your license rights.
