Storyblocks offers several types of templates. Each is designed for a specific editing program and cannot be opened in other software.

Template Types

  • After Effects Templates (AE) – For Adobe After Effects

  • Apple Motion Templates (AMT) – For Apple Motion (some may also work in Final Cut Pro X)

  • Premiere Pro Templates (PPT or MOGRT) – For Adobe Premiere Pro (MOGRT files may also open in After Effects)

  • DaVinci Resolve Templates (DRP) – For DaVinci Resolve

The easiest way to know which program a template belongs to is to check its File Type in the item description.

A different type of editing

Templates are not the same as stock video clips. They are animation-based project files that require you to work directly inside the editing software they’re built for.

  • They often include motion graphics, transitions, titles, or effects.

  • Editing them means customizing placeholders, adjusting keyframes, and tweaking animations to fit your project.

  • This is considered a more advanced editing skill. It requires patience and practice, but the payoff is professional-quality animations that would be difficult and time-consuming to build from scratch.

Think of templates as a shortcut to pro motion graphics — you still need to know your way around the program, but they give you a huge head start.
