The technical specifications of Snapshot images in the Storyblocks library are as follows:

  • Resolution: Up to 2160p, with a minimum frame size of 1600p

  • File type: JPG

  • Source: Every Snapshot is pulled directly from our 4K video footage, so the still image quality matches the source video.

  • Metadata: On the Snapshot detail page, you’ll see a direct link to the video it was sourced from — making it easy to pair stills with matching footage.

  • Releases: Where applicable, Snapshots include model releases and property releases for proper distribution rights.

  • Limitations: Because Snapshots are JPGs, they do not support transparent backgrounds (unlike PNG files).

This makes Snapshots a flexible option for projects where you want consistent visuals across both video and image workflows, with the tradeoff that they are flat images.
