Storyblocks offers several types of templates. Each is designed for a specific editing program and cannot be opened in other software.
Template Types
After Effects Templates (AE) – For Adobe After Effects
Apple Motion Templates (AMT) – For Apple Motion (some may also work in Final Cut Pro X)
Premiere Pro Templates (PPT or MOGRT) – For Adobe Premiere Pro (MOGRT files may also open in After Effects)
DaVinci Resolve Templates (DRP) – For DaVinci Resolve
The easiest way to know which program a template belongs to is to check its File Type in the item description.
A different type of editing
Templates are not the same as stock video clips. They are animation-based project files that require you to work directly inside the editing software they’re built for.
They often include motion graphics, transitions, titles, or effects.
Editing them means customizing placeholders, adjusting keyframes, and tweaking animations to fit your project.
This is considered a more advanced editing skill. It requires patience and practice, but the payoff is professional-quality animations that would be difficult and time-consuming to build from scratch.
Think of templates as a shortcut to pro motion graphics — you still need to know your way around the program, but they give you a huge head start.
